So “fuel” by Metallica just somehow started playing in my head and it instantly reminded me of this...
Which I really loved as a kid after playing countless hours of Hot Wheels Turbo Racing after I stole it from my friend. I just love how badass this intro is, especially when the Red Baron decides cause the blue car to crash. It sets the tone of the entire game, jumps and knock-your socks-off-racing.
I also liked Gran Turismo 4’s since it was a nice video of basically every car in the game as with Panama playing over.
So, what intros were your favorite? I’m not limiting it to racing games though ;P.

That game was my childhood.

Ace Combat 6. It really got me pumped to liberate the people of Amer.. I mean Emeria from those Rus... I mean Estovakians.
Edit: Oops that was the launch trailer (which is awesome so it is staying) here is the intro.

I loved that game too! Had a good intro as well. Shame they went downhill after Carbon though.

For me, honestly it is a tie between GT1 and GT2. Here is the GT2 intro for now:

I spent way too much time on Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Yeah, it sure did.
Pretty much every Black Box NFS game after was rather lackluster in some way, shape, or form.
The only good or great ones since were the Shift titles (Slightly Mad Studios), the two Criterion NFS titles (Hot Pursuit 2010 and Most Wanted 2012), and Rivals (from what I’ve heard, gameplay is pretty good).

Oh, definitely Gran Turismo, the second one though. It’s the intro from the Arcade CD I believe (IIRC, the Career one had a different intro). The Cardigans, My favourite game!
But TBH, all GT games have awesome intros!
And there’s this video from TOCA, whoch introduced me to the awesomeness that BTCC is!

god the dialogue in that game was awful. I loved the rest of the game though.

Burnout 3: Takedown had an awesome intro.
Midnight Club 3’s intro was pretty cool, too.

I remember watching the Gran Turismo 2 opening video all the time when I was a kid. Also an honorable mention to the original Metal Gear Solid. Really pushed the limit for how cinematic video game storytelling could be.

I’m between Borderlands 1 and Forza 4 with Clarkson. Those two intros are awesome, borderlands got me hooked on No Rest For The Wicked by Cage the Elephant and Clarkson has an undeniable talent and voice for narration or similar.

I’m showing my age, but I still love the Tecmo Super Bowl intro. Hopefully Kinja doesn’t bork the link.

Yessss. Glad you posted the GT2 video. I suggested it but was too lazy. Love that song, love the Cardigans.

GT2 intro is getting lots of love tonight.

God I remember that awful song that played with Burnout 3. Just terrible.

Shift was boring. The Run wasn’t bad though.

The Run had great premise, but for me my biggest issue with the game was the controls.
I found all the cars to be challenging to control, especially when online, where I would have a hard time keeping up with other players.

This isn’t the intro but it was the trailer for Fourza. Hits us enthusiasts right in the heart and it has Jeremy Clarkson so that’s always a plus.

The GT6 intro is my favorite by far

These two games made up about 95% of my childhood. I still maintain that Burnout 3 is the greatest game of all time

Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is an amazing game. Favorite racing game intro would be GT2 hands down. I can’t think of what my favorite of all time would be. Maybe the Batman NES intro.

Oh my god, I played both of those games SO MUCH when I was younger.

Agreed with TheHondaBro, NFS:HP2’s intro is freaking awesome.
While its not really an intro in the truest sense, the prelude to Driv3r (starting at 2:26) always seemed to send chills down my spine.

For nostalgia and my favorite game of all-time:
For being really fucking good:

My personal favorite (kinja won't let me post vid...) was the intro for NFS Underground; the one where the eclipse battles a supra, and jumps a bridge
